About

"[The hills] were not very far off but they were, to children, quite unattainable. They taught me longing--Sehnsucht; made me for good or ill, and before I was six years old, a votary of the Blue Flower." - Surprised by Joy by C.S. Lewis

Like C.S. Lewis, I have been a votary of the Blue Flower since before I was six years old. The blue flower is a German romantic symbol for the transcendent, often associated with Sehnsucht (which I have been mispronouncing for years and continue to mispronounce to this day). Sehnsucht, as I understand it, is a deep longing for that which cannot be satisfied, for that which can barely be described.

While I’m not just here to write about Sehnsucht and blue flowers, they make up a key part of who I am and that’s kind of what this blog is about. Authenticity, peace, meaning, beauty. All the things that make life colorful. This is my journey to express my thoughts in the most authentic form, cataloging the true, the good, and the beautiful.

Let’s stop and smell the flowers. It’s a lovely day.

Verily,

Kyrie
