My Very Favorite Ultra Best Pistachio Syrup for Lattes
I like to have at least one small thing to look forward to every day. Sometimes I’m better at doing this than others, but as with all worthwhile things, when you fall off the wagon it’s best to dust yourself off and climb back on! When I say small things to look forward to I mean truly miniscule. Mundane. Life is full of big exciting moments, trips and parties and holidays, and those are exciting, but we can’t live every day in anticipation of the next big moment because then we’ll miss all the little small ones. And the small ones are what make a life.
I’ve been trying to make more and more of my husband and I’s lattes at home because as much as I love the vibe of a local coffeeshop, $8 a drink adds up. At this point, I’ve experimented with brown sugar, vanilla, and now pistachio and pistachio syrup has been my favorite by far. There are tons of recipes for the other two on the Internet, but the particular pistachio syrup recipe I make is from a post I saw on Reddit a while ago. It’s ridiculously easy and ridiculously delicious. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Ingredients for Pistachio Syrup Recipe:
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup slightly salted pistachios without shells
- ½ tsp almond extract
Instructions:
- Heat water and brown sugar over medium-high heat until the sugar dissolves. Then reduce heat to low.
- Add in pistachios and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes. Strain the syrup and mix in almond extract.
- Prepare your coffee (I like to use espresso), mix it with your milk of choice, and add the pistachio syrup to taste. For an extra kick, I like to add a little bit of pistachio butter to the bottom of the cup and around the edge of the glass.
I usually use brown sugar for this, but you can use cane sugar or even coconut sugar! I tried this recently and it was really yummy. With coconut sugar, I use 2 cups instead of 1. Not sure if that’s necessary but it’s what I do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ This is truly my favorite caffeinated creation so far and I hope it adds some joy to your week, whether you’re hustling through the 9 to 5, taking care of littles, or hyping yourself up for your next task.
Verily,
